Deferred Customs Duty Payment for Manufacturer Importers
The **CBIC** introduces a scheme enabling eligible manufacturer importers to defer Customs Duty payments to improve cash flow and ease business.
- The CBIC introduced deferred Customs duty payment for Eligible Manufacturer Importers (EMI).
- This scheme is active from April 1, 2026, until March 31, 2028.
- Applications opened online from March 1, 2026, on the AEO portal.
- Payments can be made monthly, per Deferred Payment of Import Duty Rules, 2016.
💡 Remember EMI is a trust-based scheme by CBIC for deferred customs duty, active from April 2026 to March 2028.
