Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0: Extended, Restructured for Sustainable Water Supply
The Union Cabinet has approved an extension of the **Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM)** until December 2028 with enhanced funding and a new focus.
- The JJM has been extended until December 2028 with a total outlay of Rs. 8.69 lakh crore.
- It shifts from infrastructure creation to service delivery, focusing on structural reforms in rural drinking water.
- A national digital framework, “Sujalam Bharat”, will digitally map water supply systems.
- Gram Panchayats will certify “Har Ghar Jal” completion through “Jal Arpan”.

Cabinet amends FDI policy for land-bordering countries, defines 'Beneficial Owner'
The Cabinet approved changes to the FDI policy, easing investments from land-bordering countries while introducing a definition for 'Beneficial Owner' (BO).
- New guidelines define 'Beneficial Owner' based on Prevention of Money Laundering Rules, 2005.
- LBC BO up to 10 percent in an investor entity now permitted via automatic route.
- Investments in capital goods, electronic components, polysilicon, ingot-wafer to be decided within 60 days.
- Majority shareholding/control in these sectors must remain with resident Indian citizens/entities.

New National Cooperative Policy 2025 Launched for Holistic Cooperative Development
India's Ministry of Cooperation launched the National Cooperation Policy (NCP), 2025, to provide a roadmap for the cooperative sector's systematic and holistic development.

Delhi Police's 'Operation Kavach' targets drug mafia
Delhi Police launched 'Operation Kavach' as a focused enforcement drive against the drug mafia in the National Capital.
