- Dr. R. Balasubramaniam Ji was appointed as a Full-time Member.
- Dr. Joram Aniya Ji was appointed as a Full-time Member.
- Appointments were made as of 02 MAY 2026.

ECI deploys Observers for West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026
The ECI deployed additional observers to ensure secure and transparent counting for the ongoing General Election to the Legislative Assembly of West Bengal, 2026.
- ECI deployed 165 Additional Counting Observers and 77 Police Observers.
- Appointments were made under Article 324 and Section 20B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
- Police Observers shall not enter the Counting Hall on counting day.
- QR code-based Photo IDs from ECINet are required for entry into counting centers.
- Only Counting Observer and Returning Officer can carry mobile phones inside.
- Form 17C-II results are shared with Counting Agents for signatures.
- Micro-Observers independently note results from Control Units for cross-verification.

Nationwide Cell Broadcast System Launched for Disaster Response
India has launched an indigenous Cell Broadcast System (CBS) for public safety, enabling instant, geo-targeted disaster alerts nationwide.
- The Cell Broadcast System (CBS) was launched on May 2, 2026.
- It was developed by C-DOT under DoT in collaboration with NDMA and MHA.
- The system provides near real-time, geo-targeted alerts to mobile devices, unaffected by network congestion.
- CBS has been effective in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Uttarakhand, and for Char Dham Yatra.
- It aligns with the UN's "Early Warnings for All" initiative and has been demonstrated internationally.

India's First Multi-Lane Free Flow Tolling System Launched
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) launched India's first Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system in Gujarat.
- NHAI launched the MLFF system at Chorayasi Toll Plaza on NH-48.
- The system uses ANPR and FASTag for automated, contactless tolling.
- Users with insufficient FASTag balance receive an E-Notice for payment.
- Non-payment within 72 hours results in twice the normal user fee.
💡 Remember: NHAI's MLFF system on NH-48 in Gujarat uses FASTag with E-Notices for non-payment.

India’s Medical Value Travel Market Surges Towards $16.2 Billion by 2030
India is emerging as a global hub for medical and wellness tourism, driven by high-quality, affordable care and traditional AYUSH systems.
- The global Medical Value Travel market was valued at USD 115.6 billion in 2022 and is projected to reach USD 286.1 billion by 2030.
- India's medical tourism market is estimated at USD 8.7 billion in 2025, projected to grow to USD 16.2 billion by 2030.
- In 2025, 507,244 foreign nationals arrived for medical treatment, comprising 5.5% of total FTAs.
- India ranks 10th globally in the Medical Tourism Index and 5th in Asia-Pacific for wellness destinations.
- A dedicated AYUSH Visa was introduced on 27 July 2023 to facilitate international patients for traditional treatments.
