Census 2027 Phase I: Houselisting and Self-Enumeration Progress
Phase I of Census 2027 is underway, with both field operations and a new Self-Enumeration facility in progress across various states and UTs.
- Field operations for Houselisting and Housing Census (HLO) commenced in Rajasthan, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and MCD area of Delhi.
- Self-Enumeration facility started in Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Puducherry on May 17, 2026.
- Over 1.44 crore households completed Self-Enumeration across 25 States/UTs through the digital portal.
- Census 2027 uses digital tools for the first time, collecting data via a mobile application.
