CCPA Penalizes Coaching Institute for Misleading UPSC Result Claims

- The CCPA found Vajiram and Ravi concealed that most successful candidates used a free Interview Guidance Programme.

- This non-disclosure was deemed 'misleading advertisement' under Section 2(28)(iv) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

PDUNASS and GNLU Launch Executive Programme on Labour Laws
An Executive Development Programme on “Labour Laws and Social Security Compliance” was launched to build future-ready professionals for India's evolving labour ecosystem.
- The programme was launched on 29 May 2026 by PDUNASS (EPFO) and Gujarat National Law University (GNLU).
- It is a three-month online programme followed by a four-day contact programme at GNLU, Gandhinagar.
- The inaugural batch enrolled 66 participants, exceeding the planned intake of 60 participants.
- The curriculum focuses on practical implementation of labour laws, especially the Code on Social Security, 2020.

Export levies on Petrol, Diesel, ATF updated for June 2026
The Central Government has updated Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED) rates on petroleum product exports for the fortnight starting June 1, 2026.
- Export levies were introduced effective March 27, 2026.
- Rates are revised fortnightly based on average international prices.
- New rate for petrol exports is Rs 1.5 per litre.
- New rate for diesel exports is Rs 13.5 per litre.
- New rate for ATF exports is Rs 9.5 per litre.
💡 Remember the new SAED rates for Petrol (1.5), Diesel (13.5), and ATF (9.5) effective June 1, 2026.

Customs Duty Exemption on Cotton Imports Announced
The Central Government has temporarily exempted customs duties on imported cotton to support the Indian textile sector.
- All customs duties on cotton imports are exempted.
- The exemption is effective from June 1, 2026.
- The exemption will last until October 31, 2026.
- Aims to reduce input costs for the textile and apparel sector.

PM SVANidhi Scheme: Extended, Expanded for Street Vendors
PM SVANidhi, a Central Sector Scheme, provides affordable working capital loans and promotes financial inclusion for street vendors.
- The PM SVANidhi scheme was launched in June 2020.
- The lending period for the scheme has been extended until March 2030.
- Street vendors can receive collateral-free loans of ₹15,000, ₹25,000 and ₹50,000.
- An interest subsidy of 7 percent per annum is provided for timely repayment.
- More than 75.5 lakh street vendors have availed over 112 lakh loans.
- Loans amounting to more than ₹17,800 crore have been disbursed.
- Over 55 lakh vendors completed over 841 crore digital transactions.
- Nearly 46 percent of beneficiaries are women.

PM SVANidhi: Enabling Micro-Credit for Urban Street Vendors
Launched in June 2020, PM SVANidhi provides collateral-free loans and promotes digital inclusion for street vendors across India.
- Over 1.12 crore loans worth more than ₹17,800 crore disbursed since 2020.
- Scheme extended until March 2030, supporting financial empowerment.
- Offers collateral-free loans of ₹15,000, ₹25,000, and ₹50,000 in tranches.
- Nearly 95% of beneficiaries accessed formal credit for the first time.
