PM Modi to visit France and Slovakia in June 2026
Prime Minister will undertake an official visit to France and Slovakia from 13 – 19 June 2026.

- PM Modi will visit Slovakia from 14 – 16 June 2026.
- This is the first visit by an Indian PM to Slovakia since its independence in 1993.
- PM will participate in the G7 Summit in Evian, France, on 16 - 17 June 2026.

TRAI Releases Amended Digital Connectivity Rating Manual 2026
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (**TRAI**) has issued the amended 'Rating Manual 2026' to assess digital connectivity, effective immediately.
- TRAI notified the original 'Rating of Properties for Digital Connectivity Regulations 2024' on 25th October 2024.
- The original 'Rating Manual' was released on 13th August 2025.
- Amendments align with the 'Rating of Properties for Digital Connectivity (Amendment) Regulations, 2026 (3 of 2026)' notified on 13th May 2026.
- New changes include multi-stage assessment for under-construction properties and optional digital connectivity audits.
- The manual adopts a technology-neutral approach and aligns with 'National Building Construction Standards (NBCS), 2026'.
💡 Remember, TRAI's 'Rating Manual 2026' for digital connectivity is based on 2024 regulations, amended in 2026, with immediate effect.

New Rural Development Framework and Allocation to Roll Out
The Centre announced a comprehensive financial and policy initiative with a total allocation exceeding ₹1.25 lakh crore for rural development.
- A new rural development framework, Viksit Bharat GRAMG, begins on July 1, 2026.
- An interim allocation of ₹95,692 crore has been released to accelerate rural employment.
- The total allocation will exceed ₹1.25 lakh crore, including ₹30,000 crore already allocated under MGNREGA.
- The funds will reach nearly 2.80 lakh Gram Panchayats.
- Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired a meeting with State Rural Development Ministers.

NHRC discusses safeguarding human rights from digital arrest scams
The **NHRC** held an 'Open House Discussion' on June 9, 2026, to address human rights violations caused by digital arrest scams.
- Indians lost Rs 52,976 crore to cyber-enabled frauds over the past six years.
- Approximately 8 per cent of these losses were due to digital arrest scams.
- More than 3,000 digital arrest frauds targeting elderly persons were reported last year.
- I4C data indicates the scale of cyber-enabled frauds in India.

Three Foreign Universities to Set Up Campuses in India
The Ministry of Education issued Letters of Approval to three global universities to establish campuses in India, advancing NEP 2020's internationalisation vision.
- University of Bristol (UK) and University of York (UK) will set up campuses in Mumbai.
- University of New South Wales (Australia) will establish UNSW Bengaluru, opening from August 2026.
- These LoAs bring the total to five under UGC Regulations for Foreign Higher Educational Institutions.
- The University of Southampton has already begun operations from the 2025–26 session.

Sikkim Signs Reform-Linked MoU for Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0
The **Ministry of Jal Shakti** signed an MoU with **Sikkim** on June 9, 2026, to advance rural water governance under **Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0**.

National SC-ST Hub: Empowering Entrepreneurs, Boosting Public Procurement
The **National SC-ST Hub (NSSH) Scheme** is empowering **SC/ST** entrepreneurs, driving their participation in public procurement since October 2016.
- The NSSH Scheme was launched in October 2016 by the Ministry of MSME.
- It provides support like Special Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme (SCLCSS) for machinery.
- NSSH helps SC/ST Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) integrate into Government e-Marketplace (GeM).
- Public procurement from SC/ST MSEs increased 37-fold from ₹99.37 crore in 2015-16 to ₹3738.34 crore in 2025-26.
- Over 1.79 lakh SC/ST individuals have benefited from the NSSH Scheme.
- The scheme aims for 4% public procurement from SC/ST MSEs.

India Leads BRICS AI Forum for Global South Sustainable Development
As part of **India's BRICS Presidency 2026**, **INSA** convened the first **BRICS Science Academies Forum** focusing on AI for sustainable development.

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana: Maternity Benefit Updates
The **PMMVY** scheme provides financial aid to pregnant and lactating mothers for improved health and nutrition.
- PMMVY launched in 2017, provides financial assistance to Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers.
- Since 1 April 2022, it's under Mission Shakti and has two instalments.
- Beneficiaries get ₹5,000 for the first child and ₹6,000 for the second girl child.
- As of 30th April 2026, 4.27 crore beneficiaries have received ₹20,150 crore.
- Benefits are delivered via Direct Benefit Transfer and support early pregnancy registration and immunisation.
💡 PMMVY provides ₹5K for first child, ₹6K for second girl child since 2022, under Mission Shakti.

Indian Railways Modernization: Speed, Safety, and Connectivity
Since 2014, Indian Railways has undergone significant transformation, with substantial investment and modernization across its network.
- Budgetary support for Indian Railways rose almost nine-fold from ₹32,000 crore in 2014–15 to ₹2.78 lakh crore in FY2026–27.
- Electrification increased from 20% before 2014 to 99.6% by March 2026, covering 69,873 route kilometers.
- 162 Vande Bharat train services are operational as of April 2026, with the Vande Bharat Sleeper carrying 1.21 lakh passengers in its first three months.
- Kavach, India’s automatic train protection system, is deployed across 3,103 route km and installed on 4,277 locomotives.
- The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (2023) aims to modernize 1,338 stations, with 208 stations already redeveloped.
