TRAI Releases Mobile Network Quality Assessment for NH-70
TRAI conducted an Independent Drive Test (IDT) on the Munabao to Tanot National Highway (NH-70) in Rajasthan to assess mobile network quality.
- TRAI conducted the IDT during June 2026, covering 311.4 KMs on June 3, 2026.
- The test assessed key parameters like Coverage, Call Drop Rate (CDR), and data Download/Upload throughput.
- RJIL (55.05 Mbps) showed the highest average download speed, while VIL (0.35 Mbps) had the lowest.
- The findings have been shared with Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) for necessary action.

Eighth Critical Mineral Blocks Auction Launched by Ministry of Mines
The Ministry of Mines is launching the eighth tranche of critical and strategic mineral block auctions on July 15, 2026.
- The Eighth Tranche includes 20 critical and strategic mineral blocks across nine States.
- These blocks feature Molybdenum, Graphite, REE, Vanadium, Lithium, Cesium and Rubidium.
- The Ministry of Mines has auctioned 56 out of 88 blocks (over 63% success rate) across seven tranches.
- FY 2025–26 saw 212 mineral blocks auctioned, including 22 critical and strategic ones.
- Mineral (Auction) Rules, 2026 amendments streamline payment and lease execution processes.

India-Australia Finalise Uranium Export Arrangement for Nuclear Energy
India and Australia finalised an Administrative Arrangement on 9 July 2026, enabling long-term Australian uranium exports to India for peaceful purposes.
- The Administrative Arrangement operationalizes the India–Australia Civil Nuclear Cooperation Agreement.
- It enables long-term exports of Australian uranium to India under IAEA safeguards.
- Australia holds the largest uranium resources globally, more than one-third of the total.
- The arrangement supports India's Nuclear Energy Mission to achieve 100 GW of nuclear power by 2047.
- It reinforces the SHANTI Act, enacted in December 2025, allowing private participation in nuclear power.
