EC Announces Bye-Election Schedule for 6 Constituencies
The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for bye-elections to fill 5 Assembly and 1 Parliamentary vacancies across 4 states.
- Bye-elections will be held for 5 Assembly Constituencies in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, West Bengal.
- One Parliamentary Constituency in Assam will also have a bye-election.
- The date of poll is 06.10.2026, with counting on 09.10.2026.
- The election must be completed by 11.10.2026.

DAC Clears ₹1.10 Lakh Crore Defence Capital Acquisition Proposals
The Defence Acquisition Council approved capital acquisition proposals worth approximately ₹1,10,000 crore for the Indian Defence Forces.
- The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) gave Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for proposals.
- The estimated cost of acquisition proposals is about ₹1,10,000 crore.
- Approximately 98% of these procurements will be made from the Indian Industry.
- Proposals include CBRN Recce Vehicles and Advanced Light Helicopters for the Army.
- The Navy will procure Arudhra Radars and Marine Gas Turbines (MGT).
- The Air Force's approvals include Ground-Based Multi-Purpose Jammer (GBMPJ).

The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment implements a Centrally Sponsored Scheme to support Scheduled Caste students' post-matric education.
- Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) was introduced for the scheme in 2021-22.
- Payments are streamlined through Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts.
- Applications are submitted via State scholarship portals or the National Scholarship Portal.
