FIU-IND issues notices to 15 VDA SPs for PMLA non-compliance
The **Financial Intelligence Unit-India (FIU-IND)** has taken action against **15 Virtual Digital Assets Service Providers (VDA SPs)**.
- Notices were issued under Section 13 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.
- These VDA SPs were brought under AML/CFT framework in March 2023.

Cabinet Approves Five Railway Multi-Tracking Projects

Railways Get Three New Multitracking Projects for Enhanced Connectivity
The CCEA approved three multitracking projects to expand the Indian Railways network across five states by about 656 Kms.
- The projects will cost Rs. 10,783 crore and be completed by 2029-30.
- They cover 14 Districts in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
- The projects include the Kharagpur – Jharsuguda 4th line and Katni – Pendra Road 4th line.
- The projects aim to add 27 MTPA to freight traffic and connect 4,790 villages.
- Projects will reduce oil import (~12 Crore Litres) and lower CO2 emissions (~62 Crore Kg).

National Consumer Helpline Facilitates ₹105 Crore Refunds
The **National Consumer Helpline (NCH)** has facilitated over ₹105 crore in consumer refunds across **35 sectors**.
- NCH addressed 1,66,189 refund grievances from 25 April 2025 to 31 July 2026.
- The e-commerce sector accounted for 1,00,466 complaints and over ₹74 crore in refunds.
- Refunds are facilitated at the pre-litigation stage, avoiding consumer commissions.
- NCH is accessible in 17 languages via 1915 (toll-free), 8800001915 (WhatsApp/SMS), and mobile app.

DRI crackdown uncovers major wildlife trafficking in six operations
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) conducted six pan-India operations, seizing protected wildlife and derivatives, leading to 13 arrests.

- Seizures include two leopard pelts, 180 live Indian Star Tortoises, and 12 live Tokay Geckos.

DRI seizes 740 kg cannabis, charas nationwide; 13 arrested
The **Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI)** intensified its crackdown on illegal cannabis trafficking, seizing around 740 kg of narcotics.
- DRI conducted eight operations across the country in the last fortnight.
- Approximately 740 kg of cannabis and charas were seized.
- A total of 13 persons were arrested under the NDPS Act, 1985.
- Seizures included 709.6 kg cannabis, 24.5 kg high-grade hydroponic cannabis, and 5 kg charas.
- One operation on 08.09.2026 near Raipur seized 375.95 kg cannabis and led to four arrests.

Self-Assembly of Organic Molecules for Green Hydrogen Production
Researchers have developed a metal-free organic photocatalyst for solar-driven hydrogen production using self-assembling organic molecules.
- Researchers from CeNS, Bengaluru integrated naturally occurring amino acid (aspartic acid) with perylene diimide (PDI).
- The molecules spontaneously organized into highly ordered two-dimensional nanosheets through supramolecular self-assembly.
- This self-assembled material generated nearly 18% higher photocurrent than its bulk counterpart.
- The work was published in the Journal of Materials Chemistry A.
