TRAI Mandates Affordable Voice-SMS-Only Special Tariff Vouchers
TRAI released new regulations to ensure the availability of affordable, shorter-duration Voice-and-SMS-only STVs for low-income consumers.
- TRAI released the Telecom Consumer Protection (Thirteenth Amendment) Regulation, 2026 on September 22, 2026.
- The amendment mandates STVs exclusively for Voice and SMS.
- These STVs must have validities corresponding to 30 days and less than 30 days.
- At least one STV must have validity renewable on the same date of every month.
- The move aims to provide low-income consumers with more affordable choices.
- This addresses the limited availability of Voice-and-SMS-only STVs observed since 2024.

National Single Window System: Digital Platform for Business Approvals
The National Single Window System (NSWS) is a digital platform launched to streamline business approvals and enhance India's Ease of Doing Business.
- Launched on 22 September 2021, implemented by DPIIT.
- Integrates 32 Central Ministries/Departments and 34 State Governments/UTs.
- Processes over 2.26 lakh approvals annually, with over 5.69 lakh business entities onboarded by 21 September 2026.
- PAN is used as the Single Business ID for the system.
- Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) integrated all 74 licensing modules with NSWS.
