ECI Extends Voter Claim Deadlines, Strengthens Electoral Roll Management

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced extensions for filing claims and objections and strengthening mechanisms for electoral roll management.

Claims and objections filing period for Delhi extended until 30th October 2026.
Claims and objections filing period for Maharashtra extended until 12th October 2026.
Disposal period for claims and objections in Delhi extended until 30th November 2026.
Disposal period for claims and objections in Maharashtra extended until 10th November 2026.
A committee with an IIT/IIIT expert will review ECINET for compliance with Acts and Rules.
Special drive for enrolment of electors, including young/first-time voters, to be launched immediately.

💡 Remember: Delhi deadlines are later than Maharashtra, with an IIT expert reviewing ECINET and a special enrollment drive.

India's First Port-based e-Methanol Production Facility Launched

India has taken a significant step towards green energy by laying the foundation for its first port-based e-methanol production plant.

The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) in Kandla, Gujarat, will host the plant.
It is a joint initiative of DPA and Assam Petro-Chemicals Ltd. (APCL).
The plant will produce 150 tonnes of e-methanol per day.
Total investment for the plant is ₹2,300 crore, creating over 3,500 jobs.
Phase I is due by January 2027, Phase II by March 2027.
Aims to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2070 and become a green fuel exporter.

💡 Remember: Kandla, Gujarat is home to India's first port-based e-methanol plant, a ₹2,300 crore project by DPA and APCL for Net Zero 2070.
