New Electricity Rules Strengthen Captive Power Framework
The **Electricity (Amendment) Rules, 2026** revise captive power plant regulations to enhance industrial competitiveness and support energy transition.
- The Electricity (Amendment) Rules, 2026 amend Rule 3 of the Electricity Rules, 2005.
- Ownership is clarified to include subsidiaries, holding companies, and other group entities.
- From April 1, 2026, NLDC verifies inter-state captive status; states verify intra-state.
- Cross-Subsidy Surcharge (CSS) and Additional Surcharge (AS) won't be levied pending verification.

PM Mudra Yojana Extends Collateral-Free Loans up to ₹20 Lakh
The **Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY)** provides collateral-free credit for small businesses and income-generating activities.
- PMMY launched on 08.04.2015 for collateral-free credit up to ₹20 lakh.
- Loans are extended by MLIs including SCBs, NBFCs, and MFIs.
- New category 'Tarun Plus' was introduced in 2024-25 for loans up to ₹20 lakh.
- Tarun Plus is for entrepreneurs who successfully repaid previous Tarun loans.
- Loans are categorized as Shishu, Kishor, Tarun, and Tarun Plus.
