Sagarmala Programme: Transforming India's Maritime Sector
Launched in March 2015, the **Sagarmala Programme** promotes port-led development to improve logistics and reduce transportation costs.
- The Sagarmala Programme is implementing 845 projects worth ₹6.06 lakh crore.
- As of 24th March 2026, 315 projects worth ₹1.57 lakh crore have been completed.
- India's major ports handled a record 915.17 million tonnes of cargo in FY 2025–26.
- Average vessel turnaround time declined from 96 hours in 2014 to 49.5 hours in 2025.
- Cargo movement via inland waterways increased by about 700% from FY 2013–14 to FY 2024-25.

India's Digital Payment Revolution: JAM Trinity and UPI
India's financial system has transformed from cash-dominant to a digital powerhouse through key initiatives like the JAM Trinity and UPI.
- The JAM Trinity (Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, and mobile connectivity) forms the foundational architecture.
- Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana enabled large-scale opening of zero-balance accounts for financial inclusion.
- The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) was launched in 2016 by the National Payments Corporation of India.
- UPI processed 21.70 Billion transactions worth ₹28.33 Lakh Crore in January 2026.
- India accounts for 49% of global real-time payment transactions and 81% of its own retail digital transactions.
- The RBI introduced enhanced two-factor authentication for digital payments effective April 1, 2026.

Indian-born Female Cheetah Births Four Cubs in Wild
An Indian-born female cheetah at **Kuno National Park** has given birth to four cubs in the wild, a historic first for the reintroduction program.
- An Indian-born female cheetah, Gamini's second cub, gave birth to four cubs.
- The birth occurred at Kuno National Park, Madhya Pradesh, on 11 APR 2026.
- This is the first recorded birth in the wild since cheetah reintroduction began in 2022.
- It's also the first birth involving an Indian-born female cheetah.
- The mother, Gamini - KGP12, is aged 25 months.
💡 Remember: Kuno National Park saw the first four wild-born cubs from an Indian-born cheetah since the 2022 reintroduction.
