CCPA Penalizes Coaching Institutes for Misleading Ads and Unfair Practices
The **Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA)** has imposed penalties on coaching institutes for misleading advertisements and unfair trade practices.
- CCPA imposed ₹10 lakh penalty on Motion Education Pvt. Ltd. and ₹5 lakh on Career Line Coaching (CLC), Sikar.
- Institutes concealed actual courses of successful candidates, a misleading practice under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
- Over 60 notices issued and ₹1.39 crore penalties imposed on 31 coaching institutes nationwide.
- The Guidelines for Prevention of Misleading Advertisement in Coaching Sector, 2024 mandate obtaining written consent.

Kimberley Process Intersessional 2026 concludes in Mumbai
India chaired the Kimberley Process Intersessional Meeting 2026 in Mumbai, focusing on transparency and governance in the natural diamond sector.
- The Kimberley Process (KP) Intersessional Meeting 2026 concluded in Mumbai under India’s Chairship.
- India's Chairship theme for 2026 is the 3Cs: Credibility, Compliance, and Consumer Confidence.
- The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme was established under UN General Assembly Resolution 55/56 of 2000.
- It aims to prevent conflict diamonds from entering legitimate trade.
- Discussions from this Intersessional will continue at the KP Plenary in New Delhi later this year.
