India's Real GDP Growth Reaches 7.7% in FY 2025-26
Provisional Estimates for FY 2025-26 show a significant growth in India's Real GDP and GVA.
- Real GDP grew by 7.7% in FY 2025-26, up from 7.1% in FY 2024-25.
- Real GVA grew by 7.9% in FY 2025-26, compared to 7.3% in FY 2024-25.
- Q4 (January-March) of FY 2025-26 saw Real GDP growth of 7.8%.
- The new GDP series with base year 2022-23 was released on 27th February, 2026.
💡 Remember: FY25-26 annual real GDP growth was 7.7%, Q4 real GDP growth 7.8%, and base year changed to 2022-23.

India Reforms FPI, PROI Investment Rules for Capital Markets
The government has introduced reforms to liberalize foreign investment in equities and G-Secs, aiming to attract stable long-term foreign capital flows.
- Individual PROIs can now invest in listed Indian equities via Portfolio Investment Scheme.
- Investment limit for individual PROIs increased from 5% to 10% per company.
- Overall limit for all individual PROIs raised to 24% from 10%.
- Expanded Fully Accessible Route (FAR) for FPIs to include new 15, 30, 40-year G-Secs and SGrBs.
- Removed three restrictions on FPI investments in Government securities under General Route.
- Merged 'general' and 'long-term' investment limits for FPIs in G-Secs.
- Exempted FPI interest and capital gains from G-Secs from income tax, effective 01.04.2026.

Biological Diversity Act 2002: India's 3-Tier Conservation Framework
India’s legal framework for biodiversity conservation is provided by the **Biological Diversity Act, 2002**, which also mandates a three-tier governance structure.
- The Biological Diversity Act, 2002 is India's primary legal framework for biodiversity.
- It was amended by the Biological Diversity (Amendment) Act, 2023.
- The Act establishes a 3-tier governance structure for biodiversity.
- The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) operates at the national level.
- State Biodiversity Boards (SBBs) and Union Territory Biodiversity Councils (UTBCs) operate at state/UT levels.
- Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) operate at the local level.
- BMCs prepare People’s Biodiversity Registers (PBRs), with over 2,72,648 created.
- Over 2,76,653 BMCs have been established across India.
- Section 39 empowers the Central Government to designate biological resource repositories.

India Highlights Carbon Credit Scheme, Renewable Standards at WTO Event
India showcased its Carbon Credit Trading Scheme and renewable energy standardization efforts at the WTO Trade and Environment Week 2026.
- India hosted an event on World Environment Day in Geneva at the WTO Trade and Environment Week 2026.
- India achieved 53.21% non-fossil fuel capacity by March 2026, exceeding the 2030 target.
- GDP emissions intensity declined 37.38% between 2005 and 2022, surpassing the 2030 target.
- The Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS) establishes a national electronic carbon credit trading platform.
- Progress under the National Green Hydrogen Mission was also presented.

E85 Fuel Rolls Out for Flex-Fuel Vehicles
Union Minister **Shri Hardeep Singh Puri** launched E85 fuel on World Environment Day 2026, commencing its rollout across India.
- E85 is a high-ethanol blended fuel with 80-85 per cent ethanol and 14-19 per cent petrol.
- It is priced nearly ₹20 per litre lower than conventional petrol to benefit consumers.
- Rollout begins at 48 Public Sector OMC retail outlets, expanding to 500 ROs by December 2026.
- Targets 5000 ROs by December 2027 and 26 per cent ethanol blending by 2030-31.
- E85 is for specially designed flex-fuel vehicles, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 61 per cent.
💡 E85, priced ~₹20 lower, is 80-85% ethanol for flex-fuel vehicles, launching across 48 outlets.

Indigenous Second-Generation Biofuel Technology Commercialization Supported

The **Jan Samarth Portal** completed 4 years since its launch, serving as a single-window digital platform for credit-linked government schemes.

PM-KISAN: Direct Income Support for Farmers
The **Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)** scheme provides direct income support to eligible farmer families.

- The amount is transferred in three equal instalments of Rs. 2,000.
