Cough Syrups Now Require Licensed Sale in All Villages
An amendment to the **Drugs Rules, 1945** withdraws the exemption for cough syrup sales in small villages.

Stubble Management Strategy: Reducing Burning, Boosting Resource Use
A high-level meeting reviewed India's comprehensive strategy for stubble management, focusing on reducing burning and promoting its use as a resource.
- A provision of Rs. 544.15 crore has been made for 2026-27 under the Crop Residue Management (CRM) scheme.
- More than 46,000 crop residue management machines are targeted for distribution in 2026-27.
- The 'Stubble Protection Force' will be active in 70 tehsils of 14 districts of NCR.
- CRM scheme started in 2018-19 and provided Rs. 4,266.47 crore till date.
- States like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and ICAR received financial assistance.
